Every Monday, the CERESE publishes the assessment of the previous week’s news by the Research Trainees:

The most important event of the week is Iran’s military strikes against the states of the Middle East. After the US and Israel carried out attacks on Iran, Tehran responded by targeting US military bases, as well as energy and other critical infrastructure. This is a significant development, as those strikes are drawing a large number of states into the conflict, including European Union member states, such as Cyprus, which hosts the British RAF base at Akrotiri. Furthermore, disruptions in oil and natural gas supply chains are causing serious inflationary pressures in global energy markets.
